Operation & Cancellation Policy
lessons & sessions with Alaina Musich
Here you can find an outline of expectations around our co-commitment as provider and client, as well as business basics like billing and scheduling.
This policy form ensures we understand what may be expected from one another within a professional setting, and answers basic questions around cancellation, communication, and event planning.
Lessons are currently held at $55 per 30m, $70 per 45m, and $85 per 60m.
As this policy is clearly presented on our website, this is considered ‘posted’ for all business rendered for services with Alaina Musich. Alaina will reference this policy and send a link to review when needed and at first meeting.
1.) Lessons are billed monthly for the following month in advance. Invoices may be broken up into payments for financial aid - The first payment MUST be made before the due date, and the entirety of the invoice MUST be paid before the following month.
2.) Lessons are non-refundable. Credit to further lessons will be applied to your account as long as the policies have been respectfully upheld.
3.) Payment is due at the first lesson of the month for every lesson for the month. Late payment will result in a halt in lessons, along with a late fee of $10 after the 10th of the month.
4.) No-shows are non-creditable/non-refundable and unable to be made up. This is a firm policy for Rosewater and Mrs. Musich’s personal clients.
5.) If a lesson is canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson, no credit shall be issued, though a make-up apart from the regularly scheduled lesson time is allowed. If another time cannot be scheduled, the lesson cost is forfeit.
Mrs. Musich always does her best to accommodate Make Up lessons, and has left Friday completely available for this need. If you call/text/email a cancellation within the parameters and Mrs. Musich does not respond promptly, the time-stamp of your communication will be honored.
5a.) Lessons canceled last minute due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, dangerous weather (flooding or winds causing treefall have occurred) building liability issues (power outages or the bathroom flooding/water shutoff) will always be credited back to the client in good faith, or will be able to be rescheduled.
5b.) Any cancellation on Mrs. Musich’s part due to holiday, vacation, or last minute needs/illness will always be credited back to the client or available for reschedule.
i.e. In the past, last minute holiday plans have cropped up, or lessons canceled out to just a single client on a regularly scheduled day due to a holiday week, causing Alaina to cancel out the day to remain efficient with her time or honor time with family.
6.) Bills are sent by the 25th of the month to allow you to check your schedule and inform of any planned absences. Should you be aware of any absences in advance, let Mrs. Musich know as soon as possible to avoid being billed for those days. Upon receipt of your bill, please check and send any corrections to Mrs. Musich before the 10th.
If Mrs. Musich is running behind in her billing, the date on the invoice will cite when the invoice becomes tardy.
7.) Any materials deemed necessary for the lesson will be acquired by Mrs. Musich and billed to the regular invoice at no additional cost to the client - As such, you may cut out the middleman by using the products page on this website to acquire needed items on your own.
8.) Lack of practice is not an excuse to miss a lesson. Practice is the student’s road to progress; Mrs. Musich can encourage and recommend, but cannot force this routine into your life.
If practice is seriously lacking many weeks in a row, Mrs. Musich may decide to terminate lessons. She will notify you of her decision and grant 1 month to correct the behavior. Mrs. Musich will keep a record of practice and attendance to determine whether termination is viable, should she sense the issue is arising.
9.) All students are encouraged to perform in yearly recitals. Should you or your child be chosen to perform, you may be asked to share the recital cost. Mrs. Musich tries to keep this cost around $35 per performer or less.
10.) Students must be picked up on time. Rosewater Monterey does not hold responsibility for students after the lesson has ended. Rosewater Monterey is a safe space with a lobby for the student to wait for pickup, though there is a likely a chance that Mrs. Musich will be the only adult present and may need to leave the studio for another appointment, or will likely be putting her attention on the next lesson at hand. Please be prompt to avoid any issues.
11.) If you leave for vacation or take a Leave Of Absence, Ms. Musich can only guarantee your normal appointment time for a maximum of 2 weeks. If you require the time to be held for longer than 2 weeks, there is a Hold Fee of $15 per week to ensure your normal appointment time upon return. This is a firm policy as Ms. Musich usually has a waiting list of eager students hoping for an open time, which you may unknowingly give up without upholding this policy.
12.) Mrs. Musich is hands-on with students, and may notice physical discomfort and provide suggestions. Mrs. Musich is not a health professional and will not diagnose, but has seen the onset and correction of many physical issues at the piano and other instruments. She may correct posture with gentle touch, and check areas of pain via mobility (not hands on/flexibility). Mrs. Musich will always inform the parent of any issues she sees and will offer resources to heal the issue, but it is the client's decision whether to take these suggestions. Mrs. Musich won’t press, only inform. She keeps a list of physical care providers if a health practitioner recommendation is needed.
Mrs. Musich is always available via Text or Email. If you need to contact her by phone, please leave a message and she will return your call at her earliest convenience, as she is usually teaching during normal calling hours. Feel free to ping her if she doesn’t see your message - she is always with people one-on-one and has a tendency to miss messages due to the nature of her work.
Mrs. Musich teaches Monday through Thursday, makeups Friday, no exceptions. Mrs. Musich practices a mostly phone-free lifestyle during her weekends, and may miss your contact if you try to connect on Sunday/Monday; please be patient. If the matter is urgent, be persistent and you will not be missed.
If you have any questions, please contact Alaina at your convenience.
