Alaina is a well-established, long time music teacher on the Monterey Peninsula, with her previous work residing at Dennis Murphy School of Music for about 11 years. She has worked with many charter and public schools on the peninsula, providing private lessons and music and band classes for all ages during her time as a teacher since 2009.

Alaina is a lifelong pianist who studied under Kai Chi Zhu (San Jose University, NY Conservatory), member of the National Piano Guild, and works with the ABRSM music program for piano grading. Alaina attended Berklee College of Music for Interdisciplinary Music Study with an emphasis in Piano Performance, and is certified in the Berklee Keyboard Method.

Alaina studied vocals under several teachers, notably Gary Catona and Eric Arceneaux. She teaches an anatomy-based form of vocal understanding which curates the best voice within each of us, and then allows the singer to apply that voice to a genre of their choosing through technique following the anatomical tone.

She was once asked to teach Ukulele for an elementary school program in 2015, and created a program based on the classroom teachings of James Hill, Lil Rev, Mark Kailana Nelson, and Daniel Ward. Alaina attends learning seminars on Ukulele to collect new techniques and materials as the Ukulele is slowly but surely becoming a new foundational study for kids in music!

Alaina is self taught in guitar via professional methods she found through her other disciplines, and can get beginners to have a strong handle on the instrument before handing them to a more advanced teacher.

She has work available on Spotify which was created, produced, and published all with her own learned skill, which she can teach you to do if desired! This includes the legalities of the music business and how to copyright the work you have created and wish to share without consequence.
